Martin Eagle
Martin Eagle is me, the guy writing this page and who put this website together.
2004 was my first visit to Myanmar and it was on that 10-day trip when I realised I wanted to return as a full-time missionary. Since then I’ve been back many times on short-term visits to teach English, Evangelism, and Bible books.
In June 2010 I finished my Associate Degree of Theology at Sydney Missionary and Bible College (SMBC) and, after a few more months of further preparation and final deputation, I plan to head over to live, study and work in Myanmar as a full-time missionary around the middle of October (2010).
After learning the language for 12 months the plan is to be part of the teaching ministry at ERC and RBI, as well as coordinating Evangelism efforts. In addition to this we (mission partners, ERC, and me) plan to begin setting up an English school for people within our area. The curriculum for the School will be Bible-based so every lesson will be evangelistic. We hope to start with 1 day of classes including a class in the evening which will have a more relaxed atmosphere. We’ll probably turn the classroom into a cafĂ© style so it feels less like formalised learning. These evening lessons will be at no cost to the students and will be more like a Bible Study or Discussion Group where interaction in English is encouraged and nurtured.
I also hope to assist the Bible College students from RBI and GBS with their English perhaps 1 or 2 afternoons a week.
More history and information on how this all came about can be found on the Martin and Myanmar page.
